Ahaki is launching the 2026–2027 call for proposals under the Africa Reproductive Justice Litigation Fund. This initiative responds to declining donor commitments, competing global priorities, and growing political resistance to gender equality, factors that have drastically constrained resources and disrupted reproductive justice programmes across the continent.
The Fund acknowledges the impact of the recent shifts in funding commitments and the threat they pose to the advancement of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Guided by the spirit of Ubuntu, Ahaki seeks to safeguard and advance SRHR for women, youth and maginalized populations by providing catalytic and adaptable sub-grants that strengthen bold, sustainable and collaborative reproductive justice projects at the grassroots, national, and regional levels.
The Fund is an integral component of Ahaki’s LIRA Programme, which seeks to promote sustainable approaches and cultivate a nurturing environment for reproductive justice through strategic, evidence-based, and collaborative litigation initiatives. The Programme strives to ensure that the protection and advancement of SRHR is sustained during a turbulent funding landscape.
For the 2026–2027 cycle, the fund seeks to empower indigenous African organisations that demonstrate strong contextual understanding and practical engagement with reproductive justice issues to reimagine and reform how organizations adapt and innovate amid shrinking funding environments. It also seeks to build resilience, sustainability and regional solidarity among African organizations.
